With recreational marijuana legal in Washington and Oregon and medical marijuana legal in Oregon, Washington and a number of other states, it is inevitable that employers will continue to see an increase in drug-related workplace issues. In response to heightened concerns of substance use in the workplace, this training will cover key employer considerations including the following:
• Employee health, workforce development, workplace safety, impact on the business climate, and financial costs;
• Overview of key legal issues – on both a state and federal level – surrounding workplace drug use; and
• Best practices for crafting and enforcing an effective substance abuse policy.

Chris Morgan is a partner at Barran Liebman LLP, where he specializes in complex employment advice, strategy, and litigation. He represents employers of all sizes and industries in state and federal courts, as well as in front of regulatory agencies such as BOLI and the EEOC. In addition to his litigation practice, Chris is a frequent speaker, author, and adviser in a variety of media. He is passionate about helping businesses succeed and provides interactive trainings and advice on topics related to management, employment law, legal policy, and compliance. Chris graduated, cum laude, with a B.A. in Political Science from Washington State University and earned his J.D. from the Gonzaga University School of Law, where he was the class commence speaker and received the Dean’s Distinguished Achievement scholarship.
