SAIF Corporation invites you to their event

Winter 2026-27 Agricultural Seminar

About this event

Use the dropdown above to sign up for one or both of the sessions.

For more than 25 years, thousands of farm owners, managers, and workers have attended SAIF's agricultural safety seminars, learning how to be safe in one of the most hazardous occupations.

Held in several cities across the state, these free, half-day trainings will begin in November 2026 and run through March 2027. Some trainings are conducted entirely in Spanish.

Although the seminars are designed for owners, operators, supervisors, and foremen, anyone working in the agricultural industry is welcome to attend.

Day one

Your last line of defense: PPE for farm chemical safety

Your PPE is your last line of defense against harmful dust, pesticides, chemicals, and other hazards. It serves as a shield between you and potential harm. But a shield only works if you use it correctly.

This training session walks you through the full process: putting PPE on, using it properly, taking it off, cleaning it, storing it, and disposing of old or contaminated PPE. We'll also focus on preventing chemicals on your PPE from getting on your skin. If some does get on you, you’ll learn the proper steps to clean it off (decontamination).

Throughout the training, we’ll use farm chemical labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to identify PPE requirements and help guide safe work practices.

Analyze this: Ag chemical safety information

When injuries or near misses occur, are you doing everything you can to investigate the incident and learn from any mistakes? This highly interactive session will walk you through the key elements of an effective incident analysis with a focus on pesticide safety and common failures involving storage, record keeping, handling and training. You’ll learn how to gather and document relevant details, determine root causes, and develop action plans to help prevent isolated incidents from becoming recurring problems. By the end of the session, you’ll have the tools and knowledge to strengthen your chemical safety program and support ongoing compliance.

Day two

Ag hacks & cool tools: Why didn't I think of that?

Sometimes the best ideas on the farm are the simple ones: a homemade cart that reduces lifting, a color-coded tool station that keeps equipment easy to find, a modified handle that improves grip and posture. That’s an ag hack! They’re practical, low-cost solutions created by farmers and farm workers to solve everyday challenges. During this session, we’ll highlight real examples of farm-tested ag hacks and cool tools that save time, reduce strain, improve safety, and can even protect your back. Come ready to learn, compare ideas, and share the creative fixes that are working on your farm!

First aid by the numbers

Injuries happen, and some occur more frequently than others in our farms and businesses. In this session we’ll explore the most common workplace injuries reported to SAIF, and how to respond effectively when they occur. With expert advice from an experienced EMT, you’ll see demonstrations on the correct first aid techniques and the supplies needed to provide effective care for our employees and co-workers. You’ll come away from this session better prepared to respond in an emergency.
