Sealing the Deal: How to Build Airtight Without Sacrificing Air Quality

About this event

Join Alan Budden, Director of Eco Design Consultants and Chartered Architect, for an insightful webinar exploring the crucial role of airtightness in delivering high-performance buildings.

In this session, Alan will delve into the why—explaining the science behind airtightness, its impact on energy performance (not only does it help prevent heat loss but also helps to keep hot air out during summer heatwaves), indoor air quality, and moisture management—and the how, by sharing practical strategies for achieving airtight construction on site. Alan also considers how buildings—especially older ones—must also be allowed to breathe and will discuss how to strike the right balance, emphasising the need for efficient ventilation systems, ideally with heat recovery, to maintain healthy indoor environments without sacrificing energy efficiency.

While the primary focus is on new-build projects, the session also offers valuable insights for retrofit applications, making it a must-attend for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of energy efficiency in our homes.
