Going Deep on the Data: Finding New Opportunities For NIL Sponsorships

Strategic sponsor spends on name, image and likeness (NIL) opportunities are becoming more and more abundant with student-athletes, especially given the popularity of the recent men’s and women’s events. During this conversation we will dig into the data, trends and insights that impact the ROI for some sponsors. We will also discuss ways to create more sophisticated partnerships and the best ways to manage them. In addition, you will hear how to discover new opportunities in your sponsorships by utilizing the numbers as well as analysis comparing the value of the sponsorships in both men's and women's sports.

RJ Kraus, Head of Social, KORE: Co-founder of Hookit, RJ has been at the intersection of sponsorship, sports, social media and technology for 20+ years, now responsible for bringing that expertise into data, insight and platform development at KORE.

Solly Fulp, Executive Vice President of NIL Growth & Development, Learfield: Currently serves as the Executive Vice President for LEARFIELD. Responsible for Name, Image & Likeness strategy, growth, and development with 180+ university partners. Previously led LEARFIELD's multi-media rights business for the East Region as well as the NCAA, Naming Rights and Campus+ divisions. At UC Berkeley, served as the Executive Director of University Business Partnerships & Services. Originated the University Partnership Program providing UC Berkeley the infrastructure to develop campus wide corporate partnerships. Also, led as the Deputy Director of Athletics & Chief Operating Officer. Bill Carter, Founder of Student-Athlete Insights: Carter is the founder of the NIL consulting and education firm Student-Athlete Insights. His NIL/mba is a 6-week intensive for professionals who want to learn, adapt, or capitalize on NIL. In addition, Bill is an NIL columnist for Sports Business Journal and teaches NIL at the University of Vermont’s Grossman School of Business. Prior to his immersion into NIL, Bill was the founder and partner at the sports agency Fuse, where he spent over two decades advising Pepsi, Gillette, Ford, Amazon, TikTok, and other Fortune 500 brands.

Mark Youngworth, Chief Marketing Officer, Zips Car Wash: At Zips, Mark is focused on all aspects of marketing strategy including brand building, partnerships, digital, promotional planning & execution, customer support and site design to drive consumer acquisition, engagement and retention to profitably grow and scale the business. Prior to joining ZIPS in 2021, Mark served as Senior Vice President for Ascend Wellness Holdings, leading strategy and brand for a $350M publicly traded multistate cannabis operator.  Prior to AWH, He served in senior marketing executive roles across Dunkin’ Brands domestic and international business units including Vice President of Strategy for Dunkin’ Americas and Vice President of Marketing and Operating Systems for Dunkin’ Brands International.
