Dr. Kenneth Geers is a Fellow at Atlantic Council, NATO Cyber Centre, Digital Society Institute-Berlin, Transatlantic Cyber Forum. Kenneth served for 20 years in US Government: Army, NSA, NCIS, NATO. For the past 10 years, he has worked for numerous cybersecurity companies in the role of scientist and threat analyst. He is the author of “Strategic Cyber Security”, editor of ”Cyber War in Perspective” and ”The Virtual Battlefield”, and technical expert to the ”Tallinn Manual”. Kenneth is a speaker at conferences like RSA, Black Hat, DEF CON and Virus Bulletin.

Kenneth’s presentation delves into the intricate relationship between cybersecurity and national security within the realms of Scandinavia and the Baltics. It scrutinizes the interconnected dynamics of cyber attacks and defense across multifaceted domains such as political, economic, military, intelligence, law enforcement, and diplomatic arenas. The focal point of discussion revolves around the pertinent context of the Russian invasion Cyber Timeline.

Kenneth will evaluate eight countries, each characterized by their unique attributes, strengths, and vulnerabilities in the realm of cybersecurity. The session will assess the distinct cyber defense postures and approaches in this region, shedding light on the specific challenges and strategies employed by these nations.

By delving into the operations and tactics of both nation-state actors and national cybersecurity centers, attendees will gain insights into the defense capabilities and efforts of governments in combating cyber threats; as well as security practitioners across critical infrastructures and vital sectors. It evaluates the nuances of nation-state cyber operations, and the strategies required to fortify defenses against cyber threats in a regional context, particularly in the face of the Russian cyber activities.
