Bridging the Gap: Statistical Precision Medicine in Real-World Clinical Settings

Date and Time: July 26, 2024 | 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM (CET)

Capacity: Only 200 spots available – secure your place now!

Organized by SFdS Biopharmacie et Santé, will be hosted by Nicolas Savy, Assistant Professor, Toulouse Institute of Mathematics, University of Toulouse III

Webinar Abstract

Precision medicine offers a promising framework for generating evidence to improve health and health care. However, a gap persists between the growing number of statistical precision medicine strategies and their implementation in real-world clinical settings. The strategies for closing this gap are likely context-dependent.

In this engaging webinar, we will provide a friendly introduction to statistical precision medicine, highlighting common tasks such as evaluating treatment rules and learning optimal treatment rules. We will then explore the specific context of partial compliance in wound management among patients with peripheral artery disease. Discover how using a Gaussian process surrogate for the value function can help expand beyond common precision medicine tasks to characterize classes of individualized treatment rules and facilitate the translation of precision medicine evidence into clinical practice.

What You Will Learn:

  • Introduction to statistical precision medicine and its common tasks.
  • Evaluating and learning optimal treatment rules.
  • Addressing partial compliance in wound management for peripheral artery disease.
  • Utilizing Gaussian process surrogates to enhance precision medicine.
  • Translating precision medicine evidence into clinical contexts.
