Rethinking Energy Storage: A New Approach to Shorten Installation and Simplify Logistics

About this event

Batteries have become a commodity. To reduce total cost of ownership (TCO), energy storage operators and installers are focused on soft costs and on ‘upgradeability’.

In addition to the competitive environment of energy storage solutions, the environmental footprint of these systems is of growing concern for companies and customers engaged in the low carbon energy transition and committed to the reduction of greenhouse gases.

Safety, too, is a key concern.

This webinar will present a comprehensive new approach to these and other challenges:

  • How to reduce the duration, complexity and cost of installation

Today: batteries and other components are mainly transported in specific packaging and mounted within a container on-site. This leads to high complexity and long installation times.

Attendees will learn other approaches to simplify logistics and installations.

  • How to design a system that can evolve over the years to maintain capacity

Adding battery capacity into an existing installation after several years of operation, is a major issue with the standard battery container approach.

With a Storage-as-a-Service (SaaS) approach, system operators are able to relocate batteries where and when needed.

The benefits of a modular- and pre-wired solution.

  • How to reduce carbon footprint and environmental impact

Battery production is not the only generator of CO2 emissions; transportation creates a big impact.

On-site waste management is a real challenge.

  • A focus on safety

An area of major concern for operators and users

Preventing an incident by intelligent design and built-in detection and suppression

In the second part of this webinar, Jens Clemens from the German utility swb will present the HyRek project developed with Leclanché in 2018. HyRek is an innovative concept, mixing Battery Energy Storage and Water Heating in order to improve the performance of the entire system while participating in the German FCR market.

Jens will explain in detail how he manages the two technologies at the same time. He will then focus on the installation phase of the project to see how much time and money he will save today using LeBlock.
