Top-Performing PV Modules: 2021 PVEL Scorecard

About this event

Note: Two webinars will be held to accommodate international time zones. Use the dropdown menu above to select a time.

What do new factories and technologies mean for PV module quality, reliability and performance? How can developers, asset owners and investors avoid the high cost of failure when they invest in new products from new factories?

Join Tara Doyle and Tristan Erion-Lorico of PV Evolution Labs (PVEL) and Armando Solis of Lightsource bp for a lively discussion of these issues during the official launch of PVEL’s PV Module Reliability Scorecard, now in its 7th edition.

As the market evolves, downstream PV module buyers and investors need the right data and the right tools evaluate PV modules. The solar industry is changing – and fast. Just five years ago, the global solar market barely reached 70 GW. This year it may top 200 GW. To meet demand, manufacturers must produce over 1.5 million PV modules every single day, and they are opening new factories all over the world. From novel cell designs to large-format modules, today’s buyers have more options than ever before.

PVEL’s Scorecard ranks commercially available PV modules via its Product Qualification Program (PQP), a comprehensive, rigorous test regime that assesses reliability and performance.

The 2021 rankings will be released during this live event and will be available in a new digital format.

Join us to find out which new Top Performer category can affect project value by more than $100,000 – and which test resulted in >20% degradation.

Webinar content:

  • Analysis of trends in test results for different PV technologies and materials
  • Overview of the failures observed in PVEL’s PQP and their implications for field performance
  • Insights into Lightsource bp’s best practices for product qualification and technical due diligence

Included in this 1-hour TechTalk webinar will be a ‘Lightning Round’, giving PV Tech readers the opportunity to pose questions to the presenters ahead of the two live events planned. We would welcome questions related to the continued technological developments in PV modules over the next few years and what concerns or issues may arise that the expert presenters could help to address. Send your questions for our Lightning Round on LinkedIn and Twitter or by email at pr@pvel.com or info@pv-tech.org
