Trackers boosting economic viability: Assessing the bankability of a 1P vs 2P solar PV project

About this event

There can be no stone left unturned in the pursuit of lower levelised cost of electricity (LCOE) when it comes to solar, right the way down to component procurement selection. There are several considerations to be taken into account when making the decision to start construction of a PV plant and understanding how these can affect the bankability of the project is key.

The ability to adapt to the terrain, the layout of the plant, or whether the modules are monofacial or bifacial can make a substantial difference. Besides this, the decision to choose a 1P or 2P configuration for trackers will also entail structural differences that can vary the bankability and LCOE of the plant.

In this webinar we will assess how these technical parameters and land characteristics can make a difference, in order to correctly make the choice between 1P or 2P trackers. There will be a comparison of the behaviour of Soltec’s 1P tracker, SFOne, and its 2P tracker, the SF7.

SFOne, the double-row 1P tracker, combines mechanical simplicity with the expertise Soltec has built up over more than 17 years. Specially designed for larger 72 and 78 cell modules, this tracker is self-powered thanks to a dedicated module, which also results in a lower cost operational power supply.

The SF7, meanwhile, is the 2P tracker with the highest yield-per-acre performance and greatest land-use options. This solar tracker counts on complete module-fill, asymmetric backtracking, is bifacial optimized and able to achieve gains of up to 5% in yield-density over gap trackers.
