About this event
An estimated 40% of commercial and industrial (C&I) rooftops are effectively locked out of the solar market because they lack the minimum load-bearing capacity for typical PV systems using glass crystalline silicon modules. Many asset owners have to strengthen rooftops to install solar, which is both costly and disruptive.
To open up the benefits of self-generated solar energy to more C&I customers, Sunman has invented and commercialised the world’s first ultra-light, glass-free c-Si PV module – eArc.
The eArc is an ideal solution for C&I rooftops that cannot install glass modules due to technical hurdles. Whereas for a system using standard glass c-Si modules a load-bearing capacity of 15kg/square metre is required, the fully installed weight of the eArc is only 4kg per square metre. Additionally, eArc can be fixed in place using adhesives rather than penetrative mounting systems, circumventing the fact that the many membrane roofs found on C&I buildings cannot be penetrated.
Sunman’s eArc is the brainchild of energy scientist and entrepreneur Dr. Zhengrong Shi, best known as the founder of pioneering PV module manufacturer, Suntech.
Over 10 years of research and development, Sunman has undertaken extensive testing and verification of its technology, including structural analysis, wind tunnel testing, fire testing and much more. Today, Sunman has successfully scaled the production capacity of its technology to 1GWp and, to date, shipped 600MW worldwide.
