Teulo Ed: Waterproofing Membranes, Weather Tightness, and Fireproofing

About this event

Theme: Teulo Ed: Waterproofing Membranes, Weather Tightness, and Airtightness

MC: Peter Raimondo, Oculus Architectural Engineering

10.15am - 11.15am | Nicholas Coad | GCP Australia

Talk topic: Fireproofing

Fireproofing is a technical, complex, and highly regulated part of building and construction. Specialists, within this field, take a career to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to apply this aspect proficiently. I provide a brief introduction to regulations surrounding fire protection, some excerpts are taken from design codes highlighting where GCP offers a fireproofing solution. An example of thickness calculation is reviewed before looking at the practical application of spray applied cementitious fireproofing. More recently GCP has become involved with fire protection of duct work, I include some information on this.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understanding the array of options designers have regarding fireproofing
  • Brief introduction to regulation surrounding Fireproof
  • Practical application including equipment, techniques and Quality Assurance relating to spray fireproofing

11.15am - 12.15pm | Alex Holly | Omega Windows and Doors

Talk topic: Weathertightness and durability fundamentals, basis in E2. Management of water generally and how we should be designing for a changing climate, with more intensity. Weathertightness in the context of cladding and window units. Update on future developments for Omega.

Learning outcomes:

  • What are the fundamentals of weathertightness and how does E2AS1 address these?
  • How is the climate changing going to affect buildings and weathertightness detailing?
  • How do windows and doors deal with water?

12:15pm - 1.15pm | Chris Ross | Allco Waterproofing | Mark Bosch | Hydrotech

Talk topic: Hydrotech Waterproofing Solutions

The CPD presentation on Hydrotech Monolithic Membrane 6125® (MM6125®) explores its features, benefits, and applications, demonstrating how this high-performance rubberized membrane provides seamless waterproofing solutions for podiums, roof terraces, green roofs, and blue roofs while offering superior durability, sustainability, and leak detection capabilities.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the unique properties of MM6125® – including its monolithic nature, self-healing capabilities, and fully bonded application, which prevents water tracking and enhances durability.
  • Learn about key system assemblies and applications – such as protected membrane roofs, green and blue roof assemblies, and vertical waterproofing, ensuring best-practice design and installation for long-term performance.
  • Gain insights into quality control and compliance – covering CodeMark certification, Electronic Field Vector Mapping (EFVM) leak detection, and Allco’s design and on-site support to ensure optimal project outcomes.
