Automated Market Makers (AMMs) have been one of the flagship innovations of DeFi, bootstrapping the crypto space by providing a permissionless method to trade digital assets through decentralized exchanges (DEXs). AMMs have disrupted traditional order book models by incentivizing token holders to provide liquidity, a model that reduces rent seeking layers. While AMMs have grown in popularity, DEXs still represent a fraction of the volume of centralized exchanges.
