About this event
The Washington Center's STIPDG staff will walk participants through the Summer Transportation Internship Program for Diverse Groups (STIPDG) 2024 application process, with a focus on eligibility and getting your required application documents polished and ready to submit. Get tips on topics like writing an informative resume, crafting a pertinent writing sample, lining up a Letter of Recommendation, and defining your sub-agency preferences. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask general or specific questions about applying.
There's no advantage to applying to STIPDG early, as applications will only be evaluated by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) after the January 31, 2024 deadline. So, come work on your application with us before submitting it!
You can also join us for a more general STIPDG information session.
STIPDG seeks undergraduate, graduate, and law students for a fulfilling 10-week summer internship. You’ll get a chance to build your network, develop new skills, and learn about open positions at DOT. This program is a critical part of DOT efforts to increase diverse representation in its workforce. Students from underrepresented backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
STIPDG interns must be enrolled, degree-seeking students who will have completed their freshman year of college before the internship begins. Graduate applicants should be enrolled in the fall 2024 semester; law applicants should be entering 2L or 3L in fall 2024. Your assignment to one of the DOT’s Operating Administrations is based on your major, geographic preference, and potential interviews with DOT staff. STIPDG 2024 will be held in-person at Department of Transportation offices in Washington, D.C. and across the country. Round-trip airfare and fully furnished housing will be provided if you live more than 50 miles from your assigned internship location. Read more about this opportunity at the STIPDG website.
