The Washington Center invites you to their event

Foreign Affairs IT Fellowship: Path to a Career in the Foreign Service

About this event

While this webinar is designed for faculty, advisors, and career center staff in higher ed, interested college students and parents may also participate.

For college students who aspire to a technology career that makes a difference in the world, the Foreign Affairs Information Technology Fellowship, funded by the U.S. Department of State, is an opportunity of a lifetime.

As a college or university advisor, or faculty or staff member, you are in a great position to identify qualified students in IT-related degree programs at your institution and encourage them to apply for the Fellowship.

This two-year Fellowship is a path to an exciting career in the U.S. Foreign Service, providing academic funding (up to $75,000), internships with stipends, professional development, and, ultimately, an appointment (full-time position) as a Foreign Service Information Management Specialist (IMS).

Learn more about this unique opportunity in a live webinar, Foreign Affairs IT Fellowship: Path to a Career in the Foreign Service, on Thursday, October 22, at 3 p.m. Eastern. You’ll hear directly from the U.S. Department of State and FAIT Fellowship program staff at The Washington Center, in this one-hour webinar panel discussion and Q&A session. Discover:

  • How the FAIT Fellowship program promotes diversity in the Foreign Service
  • How students benefit from the Fellowship, not just in academic funding, but through the mentorship, internships and professional development
  • Who is eligible to apply for the program
  • What is the timeline of the 2021 cohort

  • How the State Department’s Diplomats in Residence are a resource for your school
  • How you can encourage and support your students who are applying
