The Hyve B.V. invites you to their event

From healthcare to research: effectively using RWD with FHIR & OMOP

About this event

Effective health research requires a robust pipeline from data exchange to data analysis. This webinar examines the crucial step between OMOP (Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership) Common Data Model and FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources).

Developed by HL7, FHIR is a platform specification and health data standard designed for use across a wide variety of healthcare processes. FHIR has been widely implemented across health data systems and HL7 is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as a Standard Development Organization. Converting FHIR data to OMOP CDM has been an ongoing topic for years. However, the main difficulty is posed by the large amount of customized FHIR resources; this customizability makes it tricky to tailor a one-size-fits-all, standardized solution.

Together with FHIR to OMOP expert Theo Stolker from Intersystems, we will explore the hows and whys of conversions. We'll review how the new FHIR to OMOP Implementation Guide (out for the HL7 September 2025 ballot) provides a framework and how tools like the InterSystems® OMOP™ solution can automate this process out-of-the-box for specific FHIR resources.

This session is for informaticians, data engineers, and researchers who need to understand the practical difficulties and emerging best practices for connecting these two essential frameworks.
