About this event

This year, the U.S. Botanic Garden, in collaboration with Smithsonian Gardens, is hosting the annual joint orchid exhibit entitled "Discover the World of Orchids." Join Justin, lead horticulturalist for Smithsonian Gardens' orchid collection, as he answers your questions about orchids, cultivation, and home care. From fabulous Phalaenopsis to delightful Dendrobiums, after this Q&A you'll feel confident in caring for your own orchid collection.

Intended Audience: Adult All Levels: Suitable for all learners, this program will provide a variety of content. Program providers will answer both introductory and more advanced questions.

    Justin Kondrat (he/them) Lead Horticulturalist: Smithsonian Gardens Orchid Collection @ Smithsonian Gardens

    Justin Kondrat has been leading the Smithsonian Gardens’ Orchid Collection since 2018. He earned his B.S. in Plant Science from the School of Integrative Plant Science at Cornell University and has acquired experiences from Botanic Gardens across the US and abroad. Justin firmly believes that he wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for horticulture and its ability to help us transcend limitations that we place upon others and ourselves; horticulture naturally invokes inclusion and invites all to feel welcome.
