U.S. Botanic Garden invites you to their event

Introduction to Natural Indigo Dyeing (Online Demonstration)

About this event

Have you ever wondered about the gorgeous blue shade created with indigo? Join An for an introduction to using this celebrated blue color found all around the world. This online demonstration includes background on the indigo plant (Indigo tinctoria), an explanation of indigo reduction in a vat, and a method for creating a 1-2-3 mineral vat from start to finish. An will also share a few surface design techniques, such as tying, clamping, and resists.

To learn more about color extraction, the set-up needed for natural dyes at home, and other simple techniques, please watch An's previous USBG online programs, Natural Dyes at Home: The Basics and Natural Dyes at Home: Simple Techniques.
