Often overlooked next to bigger agricultural supply chains, the coconut industry is in an escalating crisis, with a real threat of becoming extinct without concerted and significant intervention. Today, demand outstrips supply, but fragmented supply chains, aging smallholders, and poor agricultural practices exacerbate problems such as old trees, low yields, fluctuating prices, and inadequate income for coconut farmers. We are calling on the cosmetic industry to support the Coconut Platform and strengthen the efforts to drive positive impacts for farmers’ livelihoods, the climate, and the environment.
