UL Solutions invites you to their event

Keep the moisture out, stop the floor failures fast

About this event

Presented by Evonik Corporation: The presence of moisture in concrete can be attributed to several factors, including trapped moisture, saturated sub-base soil, groundwater, and inadequate drainage. Moisture vapor permeates concrete slabs due to capillary pressure and temperature or pressure gradients between warm and cool surfaces. This migration of moisture vapor can lead to floor failures, such as osmotic blistering, delamination, and damp flooring, resulting in significant annual repair and liability costs.

Preventing adhesive failure on concrete floors primarily involves minimizing moisture vapor transmission to an extremely low level. This can be achieved by applying a resin-rich barrier coating layer. Two-component epoxy coatings are commonly used for this purpose due to their strong adhesion to concrete and low moisture vapor transmission characteristics. However, they typically require the addition of plasticizers to achieve a high degree of conversion and complete property development. Our recent innovative technology provides a solution to reduce or eliminate the reliance on commonly used plasticizers, resulting in lower emissions while maintaining a high degree of curing.

This webinar will center on the development, advantages, and model formulations of our low-emission amine curing agent technology, which facilitates the creation of various systems with exceptional moisture vapor barrier properties in thin coatings. This new technology offers rapid property development and customizable curing rates and working times. The combination of low emissions and adjustable handling properties provides coating formulators with options to design new floor systems featuring ultra-thin coatings with moisture vapor barrier protection.
