Course Description: This CE lecture covers a review of the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment for Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease (MMVD) in the absence of a cardiologist and/or echocardiogram. This CE will cover a practical approach to staging and management of mitral valve disease in dogs for the general practitioner.

Kursten Pierce, DVM, DACVIM (Cardiology) is currently an Assistant Professor in Cardiology at North Carolina State University. Following her cardiology residency at Tufts University she completed a two-year fellowship in interventional cardiology at Colorado State University. Her interests include teaching, the diagnosis and management of congenital heart disease, exotics cardiology, cardiac biomarkers, radiation safety, and minimally invasive fluoroscopically guided interventions.
