In the context of growing resistance to antimicrobials, blanket dry cow therapy with antibiotics is no longer advisable. Only cows with intramammary infection should be treated with antibiotics at dry-off. However, selecting these cows is difficult because the diagnostic criteria are not 100% reliable.
