Bill is Chief Investment Officer at Waverton. He is also chairman of the Asset Allocation Committee and a member of the Management Committee. Bill was previously Head of Investment Strategy at Coal Pension Trustees, helping to run the £20 billion Coal Industry pension schemes. Prior to that he had the same job title at Kames Capital in Edinburgh. He began his career with investment bank PaineWebber and also worked for investment banks Merrill Lynch and UBS Warburg in a variety of research roles in London, New York and Hong Kong.
Ed Balls is a broadcaster, writer and economist. A regular presenter on ITV’s flagship breakfast show, Good Morning Britain, Ed also co-hosts a weekly podcast, Political Currency, with former Chancellor George Osborne and has presented a number of documentaries for the BBC. He is Professor of Political Economy at King’s College, London, a Research Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School and co-Chair of the UK Holocaust Memorial Foundation. He is a former member of Parliament, Shadow Chancellor, Cabinet Minister and Chief Economic Adviser to the Treasury. He cooks, sails, plays the piano, drums and is a Norwich City Vice-President and Club Ambassador. He is married to Yvette Cooper MP and they have three children.
John joined the company in 2007 and is Head of Adviser Solutions and sits on the Management Committee. He joined from Credit Suisse (CS) where he was Head of Portfolio Management having carried out a variety of roles within the firm prior to that. John started his career at Buckmaster and Moore which was acquired by CS in 1987. John has a wealth of experience with Private Clients, Trusts and Charities. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) having completed his CISI Diploma.
Tineke joined Waverton in August 2018 as our Head of UK equity research and lead manager of the Waverton UK Fund. In 2022 she became a member of our global stock selection committee and in 2023, co-manager of the global Strategic Equity Fund. Tineke has managed UK equity funds since 2002. She was at Smith & Williamson for five years (2013-2018) managing the S&W UK Equity Income unit fund and a Global Multi Asset Growth fund. Prior to that she spent 15 years (1998-2013) at Newton Investment Management (a BNY Mellon subsidiary) where she managed the flagship Newton Higher Income Fund from April 2004 to December 2012 as well as 14 other UK equity mandates for charity, pension, fund-of-fund, sovereign wealth and retail investors. During that time she won a number of performance accolades. Tineke is a CFA Charterholder, CISI member and has an MBA from CASS Business School. Tineke grew up in The Netherlands where she completed a Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences.
