Research in materials science is ranked among the top 100 in the world according to QS World University Ranking By Subject 2023 and first in Sweden according the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.

Master’s students at LiU will get an education with excellent opportunities to take part in cutting-edge research, and access to major facilities such as MAX IV and Petra III. Students have the option to dedicate a full year to a major research project.
