ESBG Financial History Webinar: Savings banks as a hub for economic knowledge in the 20th century

The European Savings and Retail Banking Group invites you to virtually join a Financial History webinar on the role of savings banks in the distribution of economic knowledge. Indeed, from their creation, savings banks in Europe have been active in the field of what we call now "Financial Education". Savings banks created the World Savings Day, and edited journals and publications from children and youth. They created savings clubs and put in place systems for school savings. All these elements can certainly serve as a source of inspiration for 21st century initiatives.

The webinar will be led by Thomas Ruoss, author of the research paper "When Banking Met Education". Thomas is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Chair of Vocational Education and Training, Institute of Education, University of Zurich and winner of the 2020 ESBG Savings Banks History Award.
