“What and how much should I eat for better sleep?”

“When should I stop eating before bed?”

“If I’m hungry I can’t fall asleep but if I’m full I wake up a lot – what am I doing wrong?

"Which are the best foods for sleep?"

48% of people report struggling to fall or stay asleep at least once a week, yet this widespread issue isn’t just about feeling tired.

Poor sleep has been linked to a myriad of health problems – from metabolic disorders and accelerated ageing to skin issues, poorer vision, moodiness, overeating, sub-fertility, and memory decline.

But what’s really behind these restless nights? Could your diet – what you eat, when you eat, and how much you eat before bed — be the key to unlocking better sleep?

In this CPD-CEU training, Alex Ruani, Chief Science Educator of The Health Sciences Academy and UCL Doctoral Researcher, will delve into the intricate relationship between diet and sleep patterns. Join us as we explore how timing food intakes, adjusting meal composition, and identifying one’s prime bedtime can help promote restorative sleep and enhance overall well-being.

Here’s what you will discover in this CPD-CEU Webinar:

  • Uncover your ‘prime’ bedtime: Learn to identify the best sleep timing through personalised chronotyping methodologies and sleep midpoint analysis.
  • Does the food-bedtime gap really matter? Explore research on the most favourable time gap between the last meal and bedtime, to facilitate falling asleep and staying asleep.
  • Eating against the clock: Discern when the wrong eating windows may interfere with our circadian rhythms, metabolic cycles, and sleep.
  • How much food and when? Explore data on how varied meal frequencies (e.g., TRE, OMAD, IF) could be adjusted based on circadian patterns.
  • Pre-sleep meal composition: Evaluate digestion rates of different macronutrients and their effects on sleep onset and quality.
  • Still unable to fall asleep? Recognise when persistent wakefulness isn't insomnia and the surprising factors contributing to heightened alertness.
  • Integrating sleep management in your practice: Enhance client outcomes with personalised methods and tools through our Level 5 Advanced Sleep Management certification.

This is relevant to our Level 7 Clinical Nutrition Program and part of our ‘Nutrition Education Annual Event 2025’ series – an immersive, career-defining event that will show you how to turn your nutrition knowledge into real-world success.

Remember, you have the option of claiming your smart CPD certificate when you complete this webinar.
