About this event

PULLING TEETH MADE EASY: PRINCIPLES TO PUT INTO PRACTICE

From the beginning of the modern age, the expression ‘pulling teeth’ has been synonymous with a painstaking, difficult and frustrating process. However, as with almost everything in life - from lifting heavy weights, to playing the violin, to wrapping Christmas presents - technique makes all the difference.

Does the thought of extracting little Tinkerbell the Chihuahua’s mandibular first molar fill you with dread? Or do you start sweating when you think of extracting Axel the Rottweiler’s canine?

Hopefully your feelings of fear and anxiety will be turned into little leaps of joy after revising the fundamental principles of extracting any tooth with us.

About our speaker

Dr Roxanne Emslie BSc, BVSc, MSc, EVDC resident

After qualifying from Onderstepoort, Roxanne joined a predominantly equine referral practice. Here she gained some exposure to equine and small animal dentistry and realised this was an often-overlooked aspect of veterinary science that she would like to learn more about. She went back to Onderstepoort to complete an internship in small animal medicine and surgery, after which she moved to Cape Town to complete her residency with the European Veterinary Dental College, as well as her MSc in serval oral and dental pathology. Roxanne is currently in the process of writing the EVDC exams.

When not talking teeth, Roxanne enjoys all the outdoor adventures that Cape Town has to offer together with her husband, Kevin, as well as her horse, dog and 2 cats.
