What happens when the science we rely on is manipulated, including by those we trust most?

Misinformation and disinformation are persistent and accelerating threats to global public health. Digital platforms, search engines, deceptive marketing, and rapidly advancing generative AI have supercharged the spread of distorted narratives. From viral myths and biased reporting to politicised research and algorithmic amplification, a tide of falsehoods, conspiracy theories, and misleading claims increasingly skew public understanding, policy, and decision-making.

The 2nd Annual Global Symposium on Health Misinformation, hosted by the True Health Initiative, takes place online on 9–10 December 2025. This live event brings together international leaders in misinformation research, medicine, nutrition, psychology, communication, policy, and data science to uncover how harmful distortions originate, evolve, and spread across healthcare, academia, industry, government, media, and emerging technologies – and to share actionable strategies for detecting, countering, and rebuilding trust in science and public health.

What to Expect

This landmark international online event unfolds over two days of LIVE, expert-led sessions across multiple presentation streams. Each stream explores a critical dimension of the misinformation crisis – from regulating harmful online content and discerning wrongful speech, to understanding how media, public figures, and institutions shape perception, trust, and behaviour.

Sessions will also confront the rise of pseudoscience in mental health, the spread of harmful medical fallacies, and the growing influence of commercial and political interests within academia and policy-making, often echoing playbooks once borrowed from the fossil fuel industry. Additional discussions will delve into AI-assisted mitigation, the ethics of scientific communication, and the development of effective, evidence-based strategies to counter twisted narratives and reinforce integrity in research and science communication.

This symposium is your opportunity to act. Join practitioners, scientists, journalists, and engaged citizens from around the world to recognise manipulation tactics, challenge misinformation, and strengthen the integrity of the science guiding public health decisions, policy, and professional standards. Together, we’ll explore how cross-sector collaboration can restore clarity, accountability, and informed decision-making in an era of amplified distortion.

The event is free and unsponsored. Every speaker contributes their expertise voluntarily, united by a shared commitment to truth, transparency, and accountability in health communication.

Who Is This For?

  • Scientists concerned about research integrity and evidence distortion
  • Professionals navigating conflicting advice rooted in manipulation
  • Journalists striving to report accurately in a polarised environment
  • Policy-makers and regulators responsible for safeguarding the public
  • AI specialists shaping systems plagued with harmful misinformation
  • Educators and students exploring the ethics of science communication
  • Engaged citizens invested in transparency and accountability

Why You Should Attend

This high-impact symposium is a rare opportunity to engage directly with the world’s leading voices confronting misinformation and disinformation in science, health, industry, government, and technology. By attending both immersive days, you will:

  • Learn strategies to detect, challenge, and mitigate manipulation in your field or network – whether in research, practice, industry, media, or technology
  • Explore real-world case studies from harmful misinformation to digital persuasion, truth-bending marketing, algorithmic amplification, and AI-driven deception
  • Connect with world-renowned misinformation researchers, scientists, clinicians, educators, policy-makers, journalists, technologists, and civic leaders working to uphold integrity in science and public policy

Your participation can help expand the conversation, whether by sharing insights with your networks, uncovering new examples of industry influence, or collaborating on ways to tackle these issues head-on.

This is your moment to take a stand against harmful distortion and drive meaningful change.
