About our Speaker: Dr Stefanus Cilliers

Responsible for the formulations, design, consultation and management at Camelus

Stefanus started his career as nutrition researcher in Oudtshoorn as employee of the Klein Karoo Ostrich Research Centre in 1991. During this time the PhD Agric was awarded for a thesis based on feedstuff evaluation in ostriches and requirements for growth and production in various growth and production stages.

In 1994 Stefanus initiated a range of feed additive products for the ostrich industry that soon extended into various animal species. These were marketed under a company called Camelus and its own manufacturing facility was established in 1998 in Oudtshoorn, South Africa.

The initial manufacturing plant was primarily focused on premix and feed additive manufacturing. Further extension was done to facilitate production of liquid emulsions in 2012. Both factories are certified ISO 22 000 facilities (NR) and also carry DAFF certification for Approved Veterinary Establishment (Reg Nr ZA 14/21) and AFRI SOP Compliance .

Camelus currently has 50 registered Act 36 products in South Africa, Namibia and Zambia.
