About this event

Approach to lumps and bumps in dogs and cats

"Approach to Lumps and Bumps in Dogs and Cats" provides a structured overview of how to assess and manage skin masses in companion animals. In this talk we will cover the basics of cancer biology, distinguishing between benign and malignant growths. Common skin masses such as melanomas, lipomas, mast cell tumours, histiocytomas, and squamous cell carcinomas are discussed, including their clinical features and breed predilections. Diagnostic approaches like fine needle aspiration, digital cytology and biopsies are outlined, along with staging techniques such as imaging and lymph node mapping. Treatment strategies range from surgical excision to local and systemic therapies. The presentation emphasizes the importance of identifying non-neoplastic lesions and using a methodical diagnostic and therapeutic approach.
