About this event
This webinar will illustrate the importance electronic taxonomy (or e-taxonomy), with a specific focus on Xper3, a dedicated platform to create identification keys. Xper3 is open-access and collaborative, polytomous and multiple-access logic, with tools assessing the efficiency of the key. The webinar with showcase how to create Xper3 keys as well as how to use the platform, alongside illustrations of recent case studies of Southern Ocean keys
I am a marine biologist studying the diversity and evolution of the Southern Ocean benthic fauna. My main areas of expertise are taxonomy (including e-taxonomy and integrative taxonomy) and phylogeography. During my PhD thesis and following postdoctoral positions (Belgium, New Zealand, United Kingdom), I have evaluated past and contemporary biological processes shaping the extant biodiversity. My works included the biogeography and taxonomy of various Southern Ocean echinoderms (sea stars, brittle star) or the analysis of community structure analyses of intertidal Antarctic organisms. I am currently employed at the Université de Bourgogne (Dijon, France) in two projects related to the diversity of shallow communities from the Crozet archipelago and the Southern Ocean intertidal zone.
